That being said, we would be giving a comprehensive guide under 3 themes, which are; Preparation, Registration and finally Success.
Preparation.
It is said that he who fails to prepare or plan, plans or is prepared to fail. This is the same for post UTME, you need to adequately make preparation if you are intentionally about scaling through and being offered admission. In preparing, you need to be aware that the post UTME requirements vary from schools. Ensure that you know the exact requirements the school you applied to have. After knowing the requirements, you need to make a lesson or study plan to aid in being equipped with the necessary knowledge.
For instance, some institutions conduct post UTME by setting questions generally from Mathematics, English and Current affairs. If this is the case with the school you applied to, you then need to start getting material and/or tutors that will aid you in studying properly. A study plan can be drawn also depending on attention span and how best you study. You can also get the past question from the institution, if they let it out. Also ensure in this preparation phase that you have met other requirements like your WAEC/NECO/ GCE/ NABTEB results with the relevant subject combination. After this you can then proceed to the registration phase.
Registration.
After you might have met up with the necessary requirements to make you eligible to sit for the post UTME and you have studied and gotten the necessary materials, you are to then proceed for the registrations. Unlike the JAMB examinations which have a fixed amount of registration for all applicants, the post UTME of an institution differs depending on the institution you applied to.
The Post UTME registration for many schools ranges from #2,500 to #7,000. This is usually an online payment, but ensure that you frequent the school site to know the exact payment method required. There is also a possibility that it may be an on site registration, in this instance you will have to go physically to the school for your registration. Also make sure you upload the necessary documents as directed by the institution which usually includes your O’level result and your JAMB registration and result paper. Other things may include your passport or a means of identity.
Success:
Success in post UTME will come when you have finally sat for the examinations and are able to answer most of the questions. To achieve this, make sure you know the date scheduled for your own examinations, also be conversant with the location of the school, so you wouldn’t have to go late or miss the exams entirely. Another thing to consider to ensure your success is the traffic between your residence and the location for the school and exams. This may seem basic but it is very important. If the road between your residence and the location of the school is always congested, you would have to make arrangements to go way before the time set for your examinations. If it is a written examination ensure you read the instructions carefully and make sure you do exactly what is asked of it.
Now that you’ve written the examinations, you don’t need to wait for long, most schools release the result within 24-48 hours. Check the results and know your date.
Note however, not all schools write examinations for post UTME, some schools simply combine your JAMB score, the number of credits you have in your senior school final exam and the number of results you’re relying on ( if your result is from one sitting or two).
See you at the top!!!!
