- The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) was established on 5th February, 1964 to train officers for the Nigerian Armed Forces.
- Originally called the Royal Military Forces Training College, it was renamed the Nigerian Military Training College after Nigeria’s independence in 1960.
- From its establishment in 1964, graduates of NDA were awarded National Certificates of Education (NCE) after from being commissioned into the officer cadre of the Nigerian Armed Force. The examination was prepared and conducted by the University of Ibadan.
- The academy upgraded to a degree awarding institution in 1985.
- In 2005, President Olusegun Obasanjo commissioned the post graduate school, which commenced its academic session in 2005/2006.
- The NDA’s role is to provide officer cadets with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to be military officers, through academic, military, and character training.
- The present Commandant of NDA is Major General JO OCHAI.
- The current provost of the NDA is Prof Isa Garba.
- The NDA aims to develop well-educated, courageous, and principled subalterns.

Is NDA Post UTME Form Out??
Yes, the NDA Post UTME Form for 2025/2026 is out.
The application form for admission into the 77th regular course at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) is available online.
It started on Wednesday, November 6, 2024. The application portal will remain open until April 30, 2025.
Both male and female Nigerian citizens can apply for this admission cycle.
NOTE: Make sure to apply before the close of deadline.
How Much is NDA Post UTME Form
The cost of the post utme form is Five Thousand Naira (N7,000).
Candidates Eligible to Buy NDA Post UTME Screening Form
To qualify for the screening, candidates MUST meet the following criteria:
- To be eligible, candidates must possess a JAMB 2025 Registration Number. Furthermore, there’s a cut-off to bear in mind:
- A minimum score of 180 for Faculties of Arts and Social Sciences, Science, and Military Science & Interdisciplinary Studies.
- A score of 210 for the Faculty of Engineering.
- Prospective students MUST also choose NDA as their primary choice of institution.
For context, only those who meet or surpass these thresholds will be considered for admission by the AFSB
Important clarification for admitted candidates:
Cadets at the Nigerian Defence Academy are full-time students, not employees-in-training. This means cadets cannot claim any employment rights or engagements with the Academy or Federal Government of Nigeria, unless they complete the program and are commissioned as officers.

Steps for Online Registration:
- Begin your journey at NDA here.
- Navigate to the application portal, choose “Purchase Access Code” and make a payment of N7,000.00 via REMITA. Ensure payments align with RRR Codes generated from the application portal.
- Prospective cadets must also register with JAMB, selecting NDA as their primary institution of choice and appearing for the UTME.

I did the 2024 Jamb choosing NDA as my 1st choice but I couldn’t register for their last application form that closed 30th April 2024.
