- The Yobe State Government handed over the site of the former Government College Damaturu and the adjacent phase II of the Yobe State Government Secretariat to the Federal Ministry of Education for the Polytechnic’s establishment.
- Initially, the Polytechnic started with six academic departments, which have expanded over the years to comprise 12 academic departments organized into five academic schools.
- On May 30, 1994, a Task Force approved eight academic programs for the Polytechnic, subject to resource availability.
- The Polytechnic admitted its pioneer students on September 25, 1995, offering Preliminary National Diploma courses in various fields.
- Lectures commenced on October 2, 1995, with 223 students enrolled in different courses.
- Her objectives include providing full-time or part-time courses in technology, applied science, commerce, and management, as well as arranging conferences and study groups relevant to its fields of learning.
